Third Academy

Digital Web3 Marketer

Company Background

We're a Web3 educational collective and career launchpad. Want to break into Web3? Our courses are designed to onboard the next generation of professionals. And, they're open to all, because in building a new iteration of the Web, we need everyone's input and experience to fix the mistakes of the past.

Our courses facilitate building and showcasing that experience. We bake in opportunities to build your personal presence and create a polished and Web3 specific portfolio. Leave our courses with provable skills, on-chain certification, and digital footprint in the space.

I was active in their community and offered my services to improve their output.

Project - Spooky Jobs Careers Fair Event

The Brief

I approached by the Community Manager Carlee on Discord after being active within their community for a couple of months. She needed help with some Events Marketing and knew that I had experience in this task and so I agreed to help her.

The date was 26th of October 2022 and the following key deliverables were required:

  1. Spreading the word about the event (sharing graphics and sharing the space invite).
  2. Do you want to work in the exciting and innovative world of Web 3?
  3. Halloween soundtrack (can we put a list of Halloween themed songs together? or find a soundtrack on Youtube/Spotify).
  4. Memes - is there any memes we could create about the event?
  5. Questions to ask the speakers about careers in Web3, getting hired in Web3, and how they hire people for their company/project

The Plan & Thought Process - Creative Brainstorming

I started off in a Google doc and wrote down the requirements from the brief. I then proceeded to flesh out what I would need to do in order to meet those requirements.

I asked myself these questions before coming up with the solution:

  1. What is the best way to build up Hype?
  2. Who is the target audience?
  3. What are the benefits of attending this event?
  4. What different marketing channels or methods can I employ to produce organic traffic?

The Execution

I decided that 3 social posts for the week would be best because it would allow for a steady pace of content and hype to build for the event.

Also using this method is completely organic and so there would be no cost to the company Hype.

Furthermore, I then began research into the different type's of Halloween music sound tracks before I eventually searched on Spotify. I then started to design some Creatives in Canva, making sure Third Academy's branding was adhered too.

Key Challenges? - Opportunities for Growth

The Problem

There was a challenge of timezone's with Carlee because she was based in Canada the time difference meant that if I wanted to ask a question about the task then I would have to wait until she was Online.

How I overcame

I overcame this by asking my questions in bulk as this was most efficient of ensuring that I would get answers to my questions fast. Furthermore, I would adjust my hours so that it fit Canada's timezone to make sure I would not be burning out.

The Results! - Was I Successful?

The result was that the event was an overall success! Carlee was really happy with my work quality and commented that my designs were really good, especially the Meme's. There were a total of 87 people that attended the event and Carlee in the future wished to host more.

Lessons Learnt

If I were to do this again I would perform market research on Carlee to gain a better understanding of her target audience as well as the customer persona's.
