I was active in their community and offered my services to improve their output.
I approached by the Community Manager Carlee on Discord after being active within their community for a couple of months. She needed help with some Events Marketing and knew that I had experience in this task and so I agreed to help her.
The date was 26th of October 2022 and the following key deliverables were required:
I started off in a Google doc and wrote down the requirements from the brief. I then proceeded to flesh out what I would need to do in order to meet those requirements.
I asked myself these questions before coming up with the solution:
I decided that 3 social posts for the week would be best because it would allow for a steady pace of content and hype to build for the event.
Also using this method is completely organic and so there would be no cost to the company Hype.
Furthermore, I then began research into the different type's of Halloween music sound tracks before I eventually searched on Spotify. I then started to design some Creatives in Canva, making sure Third Academy's branding was adhered too.
The Problem
There was a challenge of timezone's with Carlee because she was based in Canada the time difference meant that if I wanted to ask a question about the task then I would have to wait until she was Online.
How I overcame
I overcame this by asking my questions in bulk as this was most efficient of ensuring that I would get answers to my questions fast. Furthermore, I would adjust my hours so that it fit Canada's timezone to make sure I would not be burning out.
The result was that the event was an overall success! Carlee was really happy with my work quality and commented that my designs were really good, especially the Meme's. There were a total of 87 people that attended the event and Carlee in the future wished to host more.
Lessons Learnt
If I were to do this again I would perform market research on Carlee to gain a better understanding of her target audience as well as the customer persona's.
